Base State Studio is a philosophy-led skincare brand built around somatic science and sensory intelligence. Their oil-based formulations — including the Tír na Nóg facial oils and Lillis Sleep serum — are designed to work with the body’s natural systems, supporting skin renewal, nervous system regulation, and deep rest from the inside out.

Project  Scope.

I worked with Base State Studio to build a brand identity that could hold the full weight of their philosophy. The scope included logo design, brand kit (color palette, typography, visual language), and packaging design for their full product lineup.

The challenge.

Base State Studio’s oil-based products were being misread by the market. Despite the brand’s grounding in somatic science and its positioning as premium skincare, the visual identity was landing them in the botanical and essential oil category — a signal mismatch that undersold both the product’s sophistication and its price point. The challenge was to reframe natural as refined, and to build a visual language that communicates luxury without erasing the brand’s deeply intentional wellness roots.

Outcome.

The new identity gives Base State Studio a visual presence that finally matches what the brand has always stood for. A palette of sage, taupe, oyster, and champagne gold carries the natural ethos of the brand while reading unmistakably as premium. Restrained typography, intentional use of space, and BOPP matte-finish packaging signal quality at every touchpoint. The result is a brand that speaks its category clearly — and earns the trust of a customer who expects both beauty and intelligence from what they put on their skin.
